How will the world look like ten years from now?

Welcome to the Unbeaten Path, where we explore the past and the present of the technologies that will shape the future.

Why should I read Unbeaten Path?

When the television arrived at my great-grandmother’s house, she used to wear a nice dress before sitting in front of it: If I can see those weird black-and-white people behind the screen, she thought, then they must see me as well.

She was not used to new technologies. Yes, maybe she could remember when electricity became available, or when she heard a radio singing for the first time, but the world in which she was born was incredibly similar to the world in which she died.

Nowadays, however, we can’t ignore technology.

The world my father was born in, in the 1950s, and the world in which we live today are astonishingly different. In the span of one single life, we have connected almost 5 billion people to the internet, managed to fit 60 billion transistors on one single chip, increased cereal production by 250% without increasing land usage to cultivate it, and the cost of sequencing a full human genome decreased from $100 million to $500.

Can you imagine the world your kids will live in?

We will learn together, exploring where are today’s technologies coming from, how they work, and what will be next. We will talk about technology, science, physics, and a bit of history related to it.

What you shouldn’t expect?
Don’t expect something every week, as my posts will be a learning process for me, and it takes time to learn.
Don’t expect me to be always right, but expect me to be open to feedback and discussion.

Grazie!
